Antonette “Toni” T. MacDonald, 69, passed away at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Toni received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics/clothing and textiles in 1972 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a master of science in clothing and textiles in 1973 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
She went on to provide academic services to Southern Illinois University Carbondale in various forms including academic instruction, academic advisement, and administration for Clothing and Textiles as well as Vocational Education. She went on to pursue her doctoral degree in Vocational Education Studies and received her doctorate May 1995. In 1999, she began working for Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana. In 2004, she went to Lewis University in Romeoville. She left Lewis University for the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky in 2009. She retired in 2014.
She was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Herrin, to Daniel A. and Theresa (Ruffino) Miriani.
Toni was united in marriage with Robert F. MacDonald on Sept. 16, 1972, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He survives.
Surviving are husband, Robert “Bob” MacDonald of Carterville; sons, Daniel (Sarah) MacDonald of Carterville and James MacDonald of Fishers, Indiana; daughters, Terri (Brett) Murphy of Birmingham, Alabama, and Christy MacDonald of Champion’s Gate, Florida; two grandchildren; and numerous grandpets; and sister, Patricia M. Serati of Taylor, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Walker Funeral Home and Crematory of Carbondale.
