Ray Page Soliday ~ Carbondale January 13, 2020

Ray Page Soliday, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on Monday January 13, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Ray was born April 21, 1962, in Litchfield, Illinois the son of the late Page and Ruth (Starwalt) Soliday.

He married Carol Barker for 25 years. Ray worked at the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Ray is survived by his wife Carol Soliday of Carbondale; son Travis and daughter Cassandra and husband Matt McCart of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents Page and Ruth Soliday and his wife Michelle Beard.

Ray was a true “renaissance man” and a philosophical space cowboy. He loved God, family and friends, and searching for answers to the mysteries of the universe. His motto was to acknowledge anyone you meet and to help them in dire circumstances since somewhere down the road you may need help, as well.

Through life, Ray, a humble man, marched to his own beat of a different drummer. He loved the outdoors, farming, intellectual pursuits, movies, music, family activities, and pets.

Activities through his life included assistant softball coach, 4-H leader, Hardin County Ambulance EMTA Volunteer, Hardin County ESDA and Sheriff’s Auxiliary, and Lifetime Member of Cave-in Rock Masonic Lodge, a legacy from his father, Page W. Soliday

A dreamer in search of a sailboat, we know he’s sailing somewhere right now with his doggie pals, Hambone and Kilo, and his horsed looking on from the shore.
