Thomas Daniel “Danny” Butcher III- Murphysboro August 26, 2018

Thomas Daniel “Danny” Butcher, 75, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his residence. Danny was born November 29, 1942, in Carbondale, the son of the late Thomas Daniel Butcher Jr. and Barbara Ann (Logue). He was united in holy matrimony to Betty Jean Cheatham on March 25, 1961, in DeSoto, Illinois. They shared over 57 years of marriage where this union blessed them with two children. Danny graduated from Carbondale High School where he also had passion playing football for the Terriers. Danny worked an accomplished 50 years with his brilliant craft in brick, block and stone. In earlier years he was skilled with juke box, and pinball machine repair.

As a result of his generosity, hard work ethic and colorful spirit, his influence will forever remain in the lives of all those that surrounded Danny. In later years, he enjoyed his garage, wood-burning fireplace, gardening/lawn work, sports, telling stories of the days, but mostly his family. Danny’s enormous love for his family was an incredible thing that he nurtured in multi-faceted ways, especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

His profound life will forever be cherished by his loving wife Betty Butcher; daughters; Danette (Benny) Miles and Robin Butcher. Danny’s grandchildren; Benny Jack, Daniel (Ashley), Ethan (Sarah), Brianna, and Maryah; great grandchildren; Jonathan, Christian, Lyric, Kelanis, Barrett, Abram; brother; Mike Butcher; Louis John Butcher; sister Terry Thorne; dear friend “preacher man” Larry Powell; and a host of dear friends and relatives.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Dillinger Cemetery with Larry Powell officiating. He is preceded in death by his parents; Brother Jim Butcher; sister Ann Reams.
