It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother David Allen Leach Jr, age 45, at his home in Marion on March 20, 2025. Dave was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, great-uncle and wonderful friend to many.
Dave was born on August 17, 1979 in Joliet, Illinois to David and Mary (Rathbun) Leach. Dave loved to make the people in his life laugh and his laugh was contagious. If you made a friend with Dave, you had made a friend for life, he would be there for you through thick and thin. Dave was a hard worker and a treasured employee and co-worker. He loved to ride his motorcycle, loved living in the mountains of Colorado and had always wanted to make his way back there one day. Dave had a love of animals, especially his dog Jake and parrot Mack.
Surviving Dave are his sisters, Lora Leach of Goreville and Leslie (Ricky) Lantrip of Cambria. Nephews Cody Reed and Zachary Orr, both of Goreville, and Tyler Reed of Carbondale. Great nieces Sophia and Carly Reed of Stonefort, several aunts, uncles and many cousins. As well as his beloved dog Jake and parrot Mack.
Preceding Dave in death are his parents, David and Mary, grandparents Donald and Jeannette Leach and Rita Noble, stepfather Roger Jewell, uncles Thomas and Donald Leach, Tommy Dean and Anthony Rathbun.
Per Dave’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Walker Funeral Home and Crematory of Carbondale entrusted with arrangements.
