Donnie Robbins ~ Carbondale May 7, 1946 - January 17, 2023

Date of Funeral

January 23, 2023

Donnie Robbins, age 76 of Carbondale, passed away on Tuesday, January 17th at 3:45 AM in his home with his family there by his side after a 5-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

He was born on May 7th, 1946 to Wendell and Evelyn (Grandstaff) Robbins in Rosiclare, Illinois.

He proudly served in the United States Army in Germany from 1966 – 1968.

He was a police officer for the Carbondale Police Department from April 13th, 1970 to December 22nd, 1992. He then worked many years at Southern Illinois University on the grounds department. He really enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching his favorite All-American Football team the Dallas Cowboys. He shared that love with his brother and sons. When not watching football it was the Cardinals or basketball. He also enjoyed Nascar racing too. If the sports weren’t on, he was watching John Wayne and Old Western Movies. His big pride and joy was going to watch his grandkids play basketball, softball and baseball. We think his visits to the concession stands was the highlight. He had a love for nice watches, shoes, guns and cars. He didn’t lack in the desire for a good steak, pizza, cheeseburger and a cold Coor’s Light. His smile, jokes and that grin along with his love and presence to his family, friends, nurses and all whom he came in contact with will be missed every day.

He is survived by his daughter Jenny (Brett) Rogman, son Joey Robbins, granddaughter McKenzie Rogman, grandson Camden Rogman, granddaughter Grace Robbins, grandson Knox Robbins, sisters Nancy (Frank) Maynor and Wendy Rosendale. Nieces Debbie Asbell, Terri Lockwood, Trudi Johnson, Natalie Walker, Ashley Schaubert, and Mandy Bill. Nephews John Rosendale, Jacob Rosendale and Frank Maynor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marianna Asbell, brother David Dale, twin brother Ronnie Robbins, his sons Ryan and Matthew Robbins.

The Family would like to give special thanks to Barnes Jewish Hospital, Residential Home Health and Hospice of Southern Illinois for the care and kindness they showed our dad.

Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22nd from 2-5 pm. Services will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 11 am at Walker Funeral Home with interment by Kent Burns following at Murdale Gardens Cemetery with full military service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s.

My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on various websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
