It is with much sorrow that we mourn the loss of Ernest Arvel Morris Jr. who passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Ernie was born April 2, 1937, in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of the late Ernest A. Morris Sr. and Mary Opal (Morefield) Morris.
He worked at SIU Carbondale of Illinois for over 30 years till he retired in 1995.
Ernie is survived by his wife Joyce Morris of 42 years, his sons Alan Morris, Gary Morris and Todd Kattenbraker (Angela Weber) and his three grandchildren Ty Kattenbraker and Allie Morris and Brendon Weber.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest A. Morris Sr. and Mary Opal Morris and sister Sherry Hunt -Taylor.
Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverand Ruby McDowell officiating. The interment will be immediately followed at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
