Evelyn Kathleen Stuthers, 67, of Murphysboro, IL passed away Monday November 28th, 2022 peacefully in her sleep at her home. She was cremated as per her wishes.

Evelyn K. Stuthers was born on January 3rd, 1955 in Ridgecrest California to Junior Ray Stuthers and Eva Flora Stuthers (Dewitt).

Evelyn was a 1973 graduate of Murphysboro High School and then received her CNA and LPN. She worked at many nursing homes throughout her nursing career. She attended East Central College in Union Missouri where she graduated in Professional and Career Development. She retired from Daimler Chrysler in 2007 and returned to Murphysboro to be near her grandchildren. Evelyn loved reading, writing (when she was able), camping, fishing, floating on the lake, and her nephew Clifford Stuthers, with whom she recently did many adventures. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Heather (Mike) Johnsey, son James (Jimmy) Stuthers; grandchildren Robert (Micah) Jennings, Deben Jennings, James Stuthers, Cooper Stuthers, and Paislee Ward; great-grandchildren; Karsyn Ellis, Adriel Jennings and Jayden and Clayton Johnsey. Siblings David (Linda) Stuthers, Paul Stuthers, Debbie Stuthers, and beloved dog Lily. As well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clifford Stuthers, grandson Max Johnsey, infant grandson Brendan Ticer, and dog Sarah.

There will be a celebration of Evelyn’s life, with dinner provided, at 5 pm on December 10th, 2022 at Elm Street Baptist Church 1907 Elm St Murphysboro IL 62966. Memorial donations may be made to the family or to Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale.
