Kenneth Rowland Cline ~ Murphsyboro October 5, 1943 - November 30, 2023

Date of Funeral

December 4, 2023

Ken Cline passed peacefully at his Murphysboro home on Nov 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct 5, 1943 in Willard, OH to James and Louise (McLane) Cline. He graduated from Berlin Heights, OH High School, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH and Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA. He married Vern (Holman) in a little prairie church in Wolseth, ND on June 12,1965. She survives along with their four children: Shane (Emily) West Linn, OR Robin (Ken) Chicago IL, Sarah (Monifa) Brooklyn, NY and Molly Elrick (Ted), Ballwin, MO and grandchildren Sam Cline, Ruby and Arlo Reddy, Osei Roberts-Cline and Jack, Mason and Izzy Elrick. Survivors also include sisters Melinda (Chuck) Rielly, Altamont, NY, and Marilyn (Craig) Finnen, Berlin Heights, OH, several nieces, nephews and cousins including Les Veil of Herrin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Louise Cline and sister, Nancy Cline Janton.

Ken experienced several professions including teacher, engineer, and chiropractor- he enjoyed them all. But more than anything, he loved being with his family, and teaching skills to his kids and grandkids, such as apple pressing, and bread baking. He liked sailing, camping, hiking, woodworking and just hanging out with his friends. About the only things he didn’t like were unkind people and cleaning his garage. He was a member of Murphysboro United Methodist Church (which included Men’s Group and Seekers Sunday School Class) and Race Unity of Carbondale.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 4 from 9-11am at Murphysboro United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life Service at 11am. In honor of Ken, friends and family are invited to wear their favorite flannel shirt. All are welcome to join the family at a luncheon after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Murphysboro United Methodist Church, Shriners Children Hospital of Chicago, or donations of blood to The American Red Cross. Ken received many units of blood these last six months. It was always there when he needed it.
