Nancy Ann Fligor, 79, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on November 8, 1946, in Carbondale, Illinois, to the late William Isaac “Ike” and Wilma Dee (Millhouse) Brandon.
On June 17, 1966, Nancy married the love of her life, David Fligor, in Carbondale, Illinois. Together, they shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Nancy dedicated many years to Southern Illinois University, where she worked as a librarian at Morris Library until her retirement. She had a love for reading that remained a meaningful part of her life.
Nancy was an accomplished quilter, a passion she embraced wholeheartedly. Over the years, she lovingly created more than 200 quilts, each one reflecting her creativity, patience, and attention to detail. She also took pleasure in traveling, especially cruises, and enjoyed field trialing horses. She loved spending time with animals from her beloved horses and Pygmy goats to the many dogs she loved over the years.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David Fligor; her children, Mark Fligor. (Alana) and Christy Roof (Greg); her grandchildren, Lexi Roof, Eileen Fligor, Rex Roof, and Clara Fligor; her brother, Kent Brandon (Linda); her close family, Jim and Kathy Anderson and Dianna Miller; her caretakers, Ellie Frey, Judy Simpson, Mary Kay Steele, and Susie Berkey; along with many other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Isaac “Ike” and Wilma Dee Brandon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale. Interment will be held privately.

September 3, 2026 at 2:34 pmNancy was one of my closest friends, we both were in quilt ladies group, loved to go looking for material and of course finding a good place to eat! When we would eat it’s was dessert first! When she started changing I would cut the material and she would press after I did the sewing her block and my block! She always sent special cards, Birthdays, get well and perk up ones!
