Nancy G. Niemann, age 81, of Marion, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on December 5, 2025.
She was born July 11, 1944, and lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
Nancy was the devoted wife of Dennis Niemann, whom she married on December 19, 1968 and shared over 57 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in family, faith, and hard work. She was a devoted Christian and the loving mother of Zach Niemann (wife Amy) and Tori Gilley (husband Jeff), and the proud, joy-filled “Nana” to her four adored grandchildren: Judah, Kennah, Eva and Adler.
She was a beloved sister to Nikki Snyder (Tom), and sister-in-law to Jay Niemann (Marge) and George Niemann (Elizabeth). Nancy was also a treasured aunt to many wonderful nieces and nephews, and a close circle of dear friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; Dale and Betty (Redenour) Smith and in-laws Herbert and Virginia Niemann, Tom Snyder and Dale and Betty Smith and one nephew Matthew Niemann.
A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Nancy began her career in social work, where her compassion and natural ability to connect with others made a meaningful impact. As her family grew, she poured her heart into raising Zach and Tori and became an essential partner in the family business, working alongside Dennis in life and business with dedication and pride.
Those who knew Nancy would remember her infectious personality- her smile could light up the room; her laugh was uplifting, and loving spirit made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She loved playing tennis, traveling, reading, and sharing stories that could brighten even the toughest days.
During her battle with cancer, Nancy continued to show her trademark warmth, strength, and positivity. Even in her final days, she extended kindness and a smile to those around her.
Nancy’s legacy of love, joy, and resilience lives on in the countless lives she touched.
Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale is assisting the family with arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends.
