With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Christina M. Burgess, 55, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply.
Christina was born on March 28, 1970, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, to George and Sherry (Jolly) Martin. From the very beginning, Christina’s life was rooted in love—love that she so freely gave to everyone around her, especially her family.
Christina’s greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent together, whether it was sharing laughter, offering support, or simply being present. Her love was constant, selfless, and unwavering. She was a caring sister, a proud aunt, and a guiding light to those who knew her. Christina had a special way of making each person feel valued and loved, and her presence brought warmth and comfort to her family every single day. Her hobbies include sewing, cooking, and crafts. She has such a creative spirit and always came up with the most thoughtful and special ideas in everything she did. She loved babysitting Peyton more than anything and watching him grow up brought her so much joy. The bond they shared was truly special filled with love, laughter, and so many memories and little adventures that will be cherished forever.
She leaves behind her husband, Thomas Burgess of Herrin, who was her partner and best friend; her dear sisters, Denise (AJ) Richard of Hurst and Joy (Brian) Neal of Marion; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Barin Neal, Peyton Richard, and Landyn Neal, who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her uncles, Anthony Martin, and Henry Orth of Arizona, and Aunt Cristine Martin of Warrenton, Missouri along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Christina was preceded in death by her father, George Fredrick Martin; her grandparents, George E. Martin and Kathleen V. Martin; and her uncles Dave Martin, Ronald E. Martin.
Though her time here was far too short, the love Christina gave so freely will live on in the hearts of her family. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst, with funeral services beginning at 1:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Greg Parker.
