Dad, I miss you. I still remember the first time we met when you asked me about my plans for your son. I was caught off guard, but I did my best to answer with a smile. And then, when you asked to check inside my mouth, I thought you were crazy! But it turns out, it was just your silly dentist humor. Since then, I’ve really enjoyed your sense of humor, your pursuit of excellence, and your love and care for others. Thank you for instilling good values in your son. Even after more than 20 years, he still opens doors for me and he always credits you as his role model. I can’t wait to see you in the Kingdom, Dad. Love you!

Ricky and Jasmine, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, during this time of loss. Praying for comfort, strength, peace and grace.
    You are loved.

Ricky! Remember the promises of Jesus in John 6:40, which says “ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” Praise the Lord! Your father fell asleep in Jesus. Soon you will see him when Jesus comes again. Amen!!!

I am saddened with the news of Dr Carter. I helped Dr Carter in purchasing and selling his home in Tennessee. Dr Carter was full of life always smiling, and laughing. He also loved to eat, and when he bought his house he had his family come up and they put on one of the best meals I had ever eaten. What a great family of cooks. Dr Carter will be missed in this area. Anyone that knew him loved him. He also used my brother on his many cars. My brother talks about Dr. Carter and many stories. My prayers go out to the family.

  6. Hope Carter says

I’m grateful for you, Eric! And I’m so thankful that you are with mommy and daddy and the rest of our beloved family members! You’ve always been one of the first responders to any situation that came up in our family! You’ were a great leader and a very supportive brother!

A funny memory that has stuck with me over the years was the time when you invited me to come meet your friend Bill at Meharry medical school! I was visiting from Virginia and you were very excited for me to come see your school and your friend Bill. As we walked into your school, I remember taking the elevator with you downstairs to meet Bill. As soon as I got downstairs, , I had a hunch about Bill.but, I wasn’t quite sure why. Nonetheless, I followed your lead into the classroom. As soon as we got in there, I knew! Your friend, Bill, as you called him, was a cadaver!!! You tricked me! Lol. I remembered how excited you were to share your knowledge about the human anatomy with me and to show me all the organs and muscles and nerves in the human body. I have to admit after the shock value were out I was fascinated as well! You were dedicated and passionate about, what you were studying. I knew that you were going to be a great Dentist and I’m so thankful that you were so bold to take on a new career at that age! You are an inspirationi to many people and a loving and caring, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend! Thank you for sharing your light with us! We will miss you! ❤️🙏🏽

I’ll never forget how kind Eric Carter was. Whenever someone needed help, he was always there. One day, I got a call from my sister saying that her husband had been admitted to critical care and was seriously ill. I was in a tough spot because my son lived in another state and I didn’t have anyone to go with me up North. But since Eric was close to my brother-in-law, I decided to give him a call. Despite having a meeting at the hospital the next morning, he promised to come and take me afterwards. We drove 9 hours to Michigan to be there for my sister and brother-in-law, and then made the journey back the next day. It’s moments like these that truly make Eric Carter shine as an incredibly kind person.

  8. Henri-Claude "Kikot" Richard says

Brother Eric! We have shared over 56 years of being family and creating fond memories and moments that will live in my heart forever. I can never forget my chastisement by you when I introduced you to a friend and referred to you as my “ex- brother- in- law”. You plainly stated that the word “ex” was not part of our lives and we were going to be brothers until the end. So Brother Eric rest in peace until we meet on the other side.

  9. Shirley Shaw says

The Christian Faith is based off the teachings of the master Teacher, The beloved Jesus.
His teaching is based on the principles of Love, Peace, Kindness, Compassion, Forgiveness, being our brother’s keeper and all principles which create a world that works for all to the glory of God.
I met Dr. Eric Carter through my husband Errol Richardson, who is his first cousin maybe over thirty years and I am blessed and honored to have spent some quality and lengthy times with him.
Eric was a manifestation of these Christian principles. He was a happy and gracious kid, very passionate about people being happy, fed, clothed, sheltered and healthy. Whether it be family friends, coworkers or strangers. All who have come into his presence have experienced his love, his generosity, his compassion, his humor and his forgiving nature.
We are all perfect human beings (all of God’s creation is perfect) but we are all socially clumsy, hence we all have disagreements, misunderstandings, we make mistakes and we misjudge. I say this to say that with all the ups and downs in life, from my knowledge Eric Carter was never one to hold grudges. His capacity to forgive was so great that to someone of a different mindset or even someone who is fairly reasonably, this level of forgiveness would seem ridiculous.
Eric was not one for just beliefs, but lived his life based off what he knew for sure. From his life experience he knew for sure that love, peace, compassion, kindness, forgiveness, gratitude and being your brothers keeper worked for the betterment of mankind. With this knowing he manifested these qualities with ease and pleasure to the glory of God.
So selfless Eric was that even in times of his own health challenges he would rather make Light of the situation or keep it private just to prevent his loved ones from worrying or becoming anxious.
We are all much more than just a body, so I do know that the Spirit of Eric will always be in our hearts living loving and laughing.
Condolences to Ricky and Jasmine his beloved grandsons, his siblings, the extended family and close friends.
We were all blessed with one of the best.
Thank you for being you Dr. Eric Carter.
    Love and Light always beloved.

  12. Margarita Yates says

I’ll always remember the summer of 79, when my siblings and I spent the summer with the Carters! Looking back I’m amazed that Eric agreed to have 4 additional kids spend the summer with him! I have fond memories of Eric taking us out on his boat, and getting stranded in the waters for a bit; his stale jokes and Eric teaching me how to sew a zipper on a dress I was making. I was amazed at how easy he made it look. I suppose all Caribbean men have hidden talents. . Most of all, I remember his kindness and unwavering positive attitude. He will be missed!

    To the Carter Family;
When we first met Eric and Leitha Carter, they were such a striking couple. Soon our paths continued to cross and as we moved along our Christian journey, we became great friends.
Our many fun drives, Titans football games, playoffs and championship; endless meals and trips (New Orleans, Memphis, Mississippi, etc.). As we traveled and enjoyed our friends, we hung on to our time together.
Eric was the best at obtaining vehicles from many car dealerships in Nashville for extended ‘test drives’ (smile).
His wit and fun loving personality was always on full display to us who considered him our friend and brother.
As life’s challenges continued in all our lives. Eric was never far from our minds and always in our prayers.
We cherish our memories of Dr. Eric Carter, family.
And look forward to our future walks and laughter in paradise with our friend.
    Lovingly,
    Stephanie and Roosevelt (Theo) Peebles
