Linda Jane Huffman ~ Carbondale June 9, 1950 - April 26, 2026

Linda Jane Huffman of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 1:25 p.m. at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale after fighting cancer with great strength and grace for nearly a year.

Linda was born on June 9, 1950, in Christopher, Illinois, to Lowell and Dortha (Hicks) Williams. She graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1969. On April 8, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, John R. Huffman.

Linda and John owned and operated the Town and Country True Value hardware store in Benton, Illinois, until their retirement. She took great joy in spending time with family and friends. Linda loved tending to her home and garden, being outdoors, and traveling. She was remembered for her quiet strength, determination, and the genuine kindness she showed to everyone around her.

Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, John R. Huffman; her daughter, Heather Jane Huffman (Anthony Wood) of Murphysboro; her son, John Paul Huffman (Mary Beth) of Carbondale; and her three cherished grandchildren, Riley Elizabeth Huffman, 18, Mason Paul Huffman, 14, and Maximus Paul Wood, 12.

A private family service will be held at Walker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Linda will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.

Walker Funeral Home of Southern Illinois entrusted with arrangements.

    Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is wonderful blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
